15 Ways to Use a Sketchbook

Fernandina Beach, Florida

February 22nd, 23rd & 24th, 2024

Class limited to 15 students.  You may request to be added to the waitlist when the class is full.

Discover ways to make your sketchbook even more valuable in your creative process. A sketchbook has limitless possibilities. Use it as a think-pad, an illustrated journal, a place to create careful studies and a space to experiment. Most importantly, use it to communicate  on a regular basis with your inner artist.

The video above is an example of using the method of creating dala art in your sketchbook.  This is one of the methods you will learn in the workshop.

Over a three day period, a variety of techniques and approaches to working in a sketchbook will be presented that can be adapted to your personal process of sketching. You will experiment with different methods to express your daily experiences, memories of past experiences, as well as techniques to connect with your intuition and imagination.

On the third day we’ll be sketching on location (en plein air, weather permitting) with an afternoon critique and discussion.

All students will have access to reference videos and materials through their private page on my website. They will also have access to a few of my online courses that may be useful when working in sketchbooks. Links to these classes will also be on their personal page. These resources will be available on January 31st, three weeks prior to the start of the workshop, and will remain available for the lifetime of my website.

Tuition covers workshop and website access only.  Lodging, transportation and meals are the responsibility of the students.  If you are traveling from a distance, the following information may be useful.

If, for any reason the workshop is cancelled, all students will receive a full refund.

Student cancellation policy:

Full refund if cancellation is six weeks prior to beginning date of workshop and 50% refund if cancelled four weeks prior. No refund if cancelled after that unless we can fill the spot. If we fill the spot, a 50% refund will be given.
